my sweet site

so it has been a little while since i have written but alot has happened. I ain´t goin into it all but i will tell alot. First i am now going to live in Villamonte. A town much different then where i thought i might go before leaving the US. i did not pack thinkin i would have electricity. so i am now goin to a town of 20,000 people. we have electricity, hot water, telephone, and you guessed it a freakin cell phone. to think i was so happy to leave that at home. But i am actually very happy about all of it. i can now keep in touch with home a lot easier and there will be restaurants and supposedly the best fish in bolivia. my site is going to be like arizona by being really hot (100-120) and really dry. but i think i can hack it.I am really pumped about bein able to keep in touch with everyone and believe it or not but ya´ll are a huge support network for me. I am also going to have a site mate. the guys name is peter and i get to meet him next mon. WOOHOO!! he is in basic sanitation. The really freakin rad thing is that i have a veryyyy good possibility of getting a horse for my transportation. so i also get a best friend. that would be really bad ass!!

Well tech week was cool but too long to talk about. we went to some places, saw some things, were cramped into a scooby doo van, and did alot of work with bolivians (which was alot of fun). Two pretty exciting things was that our van was on the national news down here cuz we got stuck in a blockade for a while and the news channel drove by and and was recording. so scooby doo van is famous. oh yeah they have blockades in the road for if the people aren´t happy. It is really awesome cuz the people express theor opinion so much and so actively here. if the gov. ain´t doin right then they blockade the only road leavin and all traffic stops. it can last for days also. The other interesting thing is that i had to give a presentation to a group of people. that group of people was the bolivian army of engineers. so that was interesting with lines of camoflaged people listening to me and matt. other than that i think i might bore some folks. oh yeah we also built some irrigation ditches out of old 2 liter bottles. by cutting the top and bottom off and forming a pipe.
it is always good to hear from everyone and i thank ya´ll for checkin up on me. for graham the lovely of bastards: you should be able to get in touch with my dad by his work number which is toll free it is 1-800-277-8966. the cell number is 1-205-908-0302. i could be wrong on that but the work number is right. so everybody try and not prank call him but if it happens it happens. chow and love you all.

tourin bolivia

Well holy shit we are goin on technical week tom. First we are goin to sucre then potosi and then oruro! WooHoo. we will be gone for 9 days seein all of beautiful bolivia. what else is crazy is we got all our site descriptions today. there are only two in the alti plano which is at 12,000 feet. but the rest are in santa cruz and tarija. the two sights in tarija have an average temp of 104 degrees and as high as 120 degrees. So Mississippi is not longer going to be hot to me if i go there. and the trainers know i am accustomed to a hot climate so we shall see. But it is good to get info on possible sights and read up on them. I am startin to get real nervous again about my site mainly cuz i can't wait to put all this training to use.

For lindseyinsc .....WOO Freakin HOO it's a boy that is so exciting. I really hope you that the little one isn't givin you too many problems. But i am so happy for ya. I know you willl be an awesome momma. That kid will be the high ruler of cheese.

And man dude that sounds like you ate somethin awful. I got to eat cow utter and it was awesome. I have tried many parts of animals, that used to live in my back yard, that i normally woudn't have tried. Like my sister was gnawin on a duck head the other day which was awesome!
So it shall be an interestin time goin on this awesome adventure with my natural resource group. Hasta lueago

oh yeah!!

Well it has been one hell of a weekend. I haven't had that much fun in a while. But first i wanted to tell about some revelations i have had. Peace corp is a really big and amzing thing. Being a volunteer is really important. In Bolivia alone there are 50-60 people employed solely for our benfit. These people would not have jobs if there weren't volunteers. People watch our every move and we can become role models to people without knowing it. The door is wide open for us to do any number of projects, the only thing limiting us is our own creativity. I will be goin to my site and tryin to influence others to do good and right and to establish a sense of togetherness when doing a huge project that will benefit the communit. It is all very exciting!!! When you think about it 2 years isn't long at all to try and make alot of change. I look forward to how this experience will mold me into becoming involved in my own community and how to work the politics to get projects started and improve things in the states. well enough of the idealism.

Carnival is ten times more fun then mardi gras!!! First of all there are no beads so it is not nearly as dangerous for women! There are no drunk horny guys tryin to see boobs and grabbin every woman there is. It is all about the art of globo(water ballon) war!! you can strategize and change alliances and just have a free for all. People have globos, buckets of water, and waterguns. At times we would just walk down the middle of the street and start wars with everyone so that everyone from both sides are nailing you. That was the ballsy approach. I got to meet alot of bolivians and drink their chicha( fermented corn drink) . after all when you are the only gringo in a whole city everyone will notice and try and mess with you. But yesterday, tuesday the 28th, was ch'alla which is the blessing of panchamama (mother earth) we had burning pyres and firecrackers and lots of chicha. all of which are necessary to properly bless panchamama. this way she will bring rain and prosper on your crops or anything else. But it is awesome down here love ya'll and if you have any deep meaning philosophical thoughts please write them down.
